Wisconsin Swine Health Rule (PRRS & PEDv)

Wisconsin’s Swine Health Rule went into effect in 2018. The main goal of the rule was to control the spread and reduce the prevalence of PRRS and PEDv in Wisconsin through testing requirements and movement restrictions. In 2024, WPA requested that DATCP initiate rulemaking to repeal the PRRS and PEDv swine movement rules due to unintended burdens to pork producers. Click the button for the latest updates.

Testing is required to comply with Wisconsin’s Animal Health rule effective March 2018. The rule requires farms with pigs to test for PRRS and PEDv when moving intrastate or interstate.
